Should a plastic tax be levied?

The EU’s “plastic packaging tax” originally scheduled to be levied on January 1, 2021 has attracted widespread attention from the society for a while, and it has been postponed to January 1, 2022.

The “plastic packaging tax” is an additional tax of 0.8 euros per kilogram for single-use plastic packaging.
In addition to the EU, Spain plans to introduce a similar tax in July 2021, but it has also been postponed to early 2022;

The UK will introduce a plastic packaging tax of £200/tonne from 1 April 2022.

At the same time, the country that responded to the “plastic tax” was Portugal…
Regarding the “plastic tax”, it is not actually a tax on virgin plastics, nor a tax on the packaging industry. It is a fee paid for plastic packaging waste that cannot be recycled. According to the current situation of plastic packaging recycling, the imposition of “plastic tax” will bring a lot of income to the EU.

Since the “plastic tax” is mainly a tax imposed on unrecycled plastic packaging, it has a great relationship with the recycling rate of plastic packaging materials. In order to reduce the levy of “plastic tax”, many EU countries have focused their efforts on further improving relevant plastic recycling facilities. In addition, the cost is also related to the soft and hard packaging. The soft packaging is much lighter than the hard packaging, so the cost will be relatively reduced. For those plastic packaging industries, the levy of “plastic tax” means that the cost of the same plastic packaging will be higher, and the cost of packaging will increase accordingly.

The EU said there may be some changes in the collection of the “plastic tax”, but it will not consider abolishing it.

The European Union also stated that the introduction of the plastic tax is to reduce the use of plastics through legal channels, so as to reduce the pollution caused by plastic packaging to the environment.
The “plastic tax” is levied, which also means that in the near future, every time you drink a bottle of plastic-packaged beverage or a product packaged in plastic, an additional tax will be levied. The government hopes to levy the “plastic tax”. behavior, raise everyone’s environmental awareness, and pay for the possibility of polluting the environment.

The plastic tax policy carried out by the EU and other countries, so far many export manufacturers and suppliers have not realized the crisis brought about by the plastic tax, are they still using nylon packaging, foam packaging, and plastic packaging for packaging? Times are changing, market trends are changing, and it’s time to make a change.

So, in the face of a series of plastic restriction measures and the “plastic tax”, is there any better way?

have! We also have iteratively updated biodegradable plastics waiting for us to better develop, promote and use.

Some people may say that the cost of biodegradable plastics is much higher than that of ordinary plastics, and its performance and other aspects are not as strong as ordinary plastics. actually not! Biodegradable plastics do not have much post-processing, which can save a lot of manpower, material resources and resources.

Under the circumstance that the “plastic tax” is levied, every exported product has to pay a tax, and in order to avoid the plastic tax, most customers propose to reduce the use of plastic packaging or find ways to reduce the cost of products. However, the use of biodegradable packaging will fundamentally avoid the problem of “plastic tax”. More importantly, biodegradable packaging will not affect the environment. It comes from nature and belongs to nature, which is in line with the general trend of environmental protection.

Although imposing a “plastic tax” is a good way to deal with plastic pollution, if we want to fundamentally solve the problem, we need each of us to reflect, and we need to work together.
We have made great strides on this road, and we hope that with our waves, we are willing to join hands with people from all walks of life to create a better living environment.
